Wright State and the Never-Ending Budget Problem
When we began class for this week, it was time once again for an update for the Wright State University budget situation, and the story is… not so good. Wright State University may have just selected a new president, but it’s no secret that the university will be in hot water for some time when it comes to the budget. This week we saw yet again that overspending on the university’s part for the last several years will inevitably result in more cuts in faculty by the time Fall Semester 2017 rolls around. Quite a few of us in this class (myself included) will be graduated by that time, but for the underclassmen, it’s becoming abundantly clear that their experience may not be the same experience that we have had and that’s bad news. At this point, we can only hope that with a new president, and a growing amount of media attention being called to the university’s problems that things will slowly begin to get better from here.
The Next Steps for the Digital Hub 2.0
It may seem hard to believe, but April is nearly here, and we all know what that means… It’s almost time for the Digital Hub presentations!
What’s also a little scary is that the requirements have changed once again! This week we learned that Facebook Pixel will not be part of the requirements for the project. Don’t remember hearing about Pixel? You can see a little more about it by checking this out! Also, instead of a LinkedIn page for our Digital Hub 2.0 businesses, we will be creating a Google + business page. Never done this before? Check this out to get a better idea!
It may have come as a surprise at first, but we now have an extra credit opportunity! After getting a taste for a Google Adwords exam with the Fundamentals test this week, it seems that the class reached a mutual conclusion: Adwords is TOUGH! But fear not, the next Adwords exam we need to complete for class on April 6th is Mobile Advertising, which is reportedly an easier task and only has 70 questions. If your mind still isn’t at ease about Adwords, then take comfort in knowing that the exam rumored to be the hardest, Advanced Search Advertising, is now the extra credit option. I certainly feel more at ease knowing it’s not a requirement! Take a look here and you’ll see what I mean.
